Siglent launched the programmable linear DC power supply SPD3000 series with SCPI command and timer function. SPD3303D/S has 4.3 inch TFT-LCD display and SPD3303C has the LED display. It will be a new vision and operation experience for you to observe the current and voltage through the waveform display.

We would like to introduce SCPI command and timer function of SPD3000 series for you as following below:

I. SCPI

The full name of SCPI is Standard Commands for Programmable Instrumentation, which is a kind of machines’ communication based on NI-VISA environment. So PC must be installed NI driver at first. Then the user installs EasyPower, software patent of Siglent Technologies Co., Ltd. The user writes and sends SCPI command in Easypower.

II. SCPI is a kind of remote control command with USBTMC protocol. Here is a part:

III. Timer function

The user can set five groups of timers to control the time, as well as the output value of the current and voltage. It is available to use PC to set Max 50 groups of timers and recycle 9999999 times.

And the max time is 10000 seconds each group of timer. With EasyPower and SCPI, the user remote control SPD3000 series very easily.

When it comes to choice a DC power supply, especially the choice of programmable high-power DC power supply, many factors should be considered, thus many parameters are involved, and this often makes us do not know what course to take. Actually, just like shopping, you can’t take into account all aspects - all leading indicators and low price at the same time.

1.A wide range of output and various output modes
There are two power supplies under test, the specification of the first power supply is 60V/3A; the specification of the second power supply is 30V/6A. It may need two 180W power supplies in different specifications or a higher cost power supply of 60V/6A/360W to test them. Not only the cost is very high, but also it is not convenient for engineers to randomly adjust the test status, and not conducive to the flexible configuration of laboratory instruments.

Test solution provided by SIGLENT is using the wide range of output and various output modes of DC power supply SPD3303 series. The power supplies is 195W, its specification is 30V/3A×2, 5V/3A×1. First of all, connect channel 1 and channel 2 of SPD3303 in series, set the power voltage of SPD3303 to 60V, in this case, the current is set to 3A, the first test of the first power supply will be completed; Then, set the power voltage of SPD3303 to 30V, set the current to 6A in parallel mode, and the test of the second power supply will be completed. This solution saves experiment time and equipment cost in maximum level, also ensures the high reliability of test data.

2. Smart waveform visualization timing programming
In the test of automobile electronic products, the test steps are relatively complex, for example: in a car horn test, engineers need a programmable power supply to test the characteristics of the horn, such as the test process as follows: 10 minutes after 14V power was supplied, test the sound quality and other characteristics of the horn, and start the test of 1S 14V on, 4S off, after loop 1000 times, then test the characteristics of the horn. If you want to complete the test, SIGLENT power supply can provide the simplest and most efficient method.

Using the characteristics of wide range of SIGLENT SPD3303 series programmable DC power supply with the powerful software, you can compose an optimum test solution. Before the experiment started, need to program SPD3303 series programmable DC power supply according to the experiment requirement, there are various programming ways according to the actual situation, such as program on the panel of the power supply, or program on a computer by using the built-in standard USB interface for remote communication.

Power supply quickly receives program commands from engineers, car horn test can be carried out automatically in accordance with the scheduled program, and software will record the voltage and current data at this moment in real time, display and record on the monitor interface of the software of computer. Meanwhile, as SPD3303 series DC power supply has a wealth of SCPI commands, is easy to form a smart switch test platform, which is particularly important for test demanding secondary development.

3.Ultra-low ripple
For DC-DC switching power supply or a similar equipment, engineers are worry about that the ripple produced by test instruments will be superposed with the ripple of the device under test, leading to a great deviation of test results from the actual situation.

It is necessary to explain the concept of the power supply ripple: AC spurious components output by a DC power supply are called ripple and noise, or called the periodic and random deviations. These terms are often used interchangeably. Ripple refers to the output AC periodic signal. The ripple appears as a spurious response during frequency domain observation.

In this case, you can also use SIGLENT SPD3303 series DC power supply for test. Because the lowest ripple coefficients of CV and CC mode of the power supply are ≤1mVrms and ≤3mArms, engineers need not to worry about the problem that the ripple superposition will affect the ripple characteristics of the device under test.
